JSPR Trunk Cabinet

Nature brings us a lot of beautiful materials and shapes to make our home feel comfortable. These tree trunk cabinets are made from a solid mahogany tree trunk straight from the woods were only the outer piece of the trunk is used and fixated together. The inner piece of the trunk is used to make other furniture objects.
Finally the cabinet is covered with a coating of hard matt colored rubber which still shows the original surface of the tree. The trunk is suited with unique cast aluminum supports that are made to fit each trunk individually. The tree trunk cabinet is available in two sizes; 1.20m or 1.80m. Whether that is with our families and friends in the confines of our homes or throughout our global travels experiencing the many cultures of the world.
As "Global Surfers, Travelers, Marketers and Lifestyle enthusiast" Johnny and Mike the founders of Maku Furnishings have experienced some of the most incredible people and parts of the world; in particular that of the Southeastern Pan Asian communities within Indonesia and more specifically the kind and gentle people of Bali.
Through these travels the concept of Maku was born. The availability of plantation grown, reclaimed and sustainable raw materials, ample and quality production resources combined with the distinctly artesian work of the Indonesian people create furnishing unlike anything available in today's marketplace. Resulting in a challenge to the way business is looked at within the "cookie cutter" mass producers that are most prominent in the outdoor and casual living sector.
As part of our commitment to "Global Stewardship" and leaving the world a better place than when we entered it. Maku is a proud member of 1% for the Planet and we gladly donate 1% of sales to help keep the ocean waters blue and the mountain snows white.

Essey Illusion Table

Elegant and simple like a draped tablecloth, each Illusion table is hand-made and thus unique. The Grand Illusion and Illusion tables are completely clear while the Ice Illusion is frosted and lends itself to being lit from underneath with the Clip Light.
Essey is the story not of the evolution of design but rather of an evolution in design.
In the world of nature shapes are defined by their function, it forms the very essence of our natural world.
In the world of design, shapes often only bear slight resemblance to their function, if at all. How many times have we looked at something and wondered what it is, or what it is used for? The world of design is not always in harmony with the world of nature and it is this imbalance that needs to be corrected.
The belief of Essey founder John Brauer, that function should be representative of natural form, is at the very core of the company and is at the heart of its design philosophy - Symbolic Functionalism.
Essey have received international acknowledgement from the most distinguee design awards: Red Dot design award, IF design award, Good Design Award and honorable mentions from around the world.
In Italy, the Illusion table have been selected as one of the 100 most beautiful objects and will be buried as a cultural heritage for 100 years in a dedicated park.

Danese Milano Leti Table Lamp

Leti Table Lamp / Painted metal sheet. Glossy black, champagne color, rust brown, white or red.
Danese was founded in 1958 by Bruno Danese and Jacqueline Vodoz showing one-of-a-kind artistic production. A landmark meeting with Bruno Munari and Enzo Mari marked a step forward from the production of unique objects to serial production. Thus was born a new collection of home objects no longer addressed just to an elite market. Danese became a real experimental laboratory for the concept and production of serial objects through the 1960s and 1970s. In 1991 the activity of Danese became the property of Cassina-Alias. We can say these were years of standstill in which the brand slowly decayed; as a matter of fact the production was only limited to objects for office environments. In 1999 Danese found again its own leading role in the diversified universe of Italian design thanks to the take-over of the company by Carlotta de Bevilacqua, who became sole administrator.Danese re-established itself as a leader in improving quality of life in the corporate environment. It now faces the challenge of contemporary perspectives as the relationships between human beings and objects change and evolve at a rapid rate according to new lifestyles. The immediate results are designs which allow a flexibility of usage and function.

Produzione Privata Orientale Lamp

The philosophy: Michele De Lucchi set up Produzione Privata in 1990 in order to realize his own philosophy of products to live with, in our contemporary society. The essence of De Lucchi's approach is to create and make objects by using man's basic "tools" and talents: the hands and the mind.
The creation of objects finds its expression and refinement in numerous pencil drawings, water-colors and studies which are then realized with the aid of skilled craftsman. Special care is taken to emphasize the innate character of materials such as glass, metal and wood and their particular handcrafting. The traces of nature, hand and spirit are what gives them their authentic quality. And it is this "living", "human" aspect that Produzione Privata wants to transmit, not the perfection of industrial standardization.

The aims: Produzione Privata aims to develop concepts untainted by the industrial logic of production and marketing. Instead, it is allied to a cultural outlook which also involves materials and techniques no longer or not yet of interest to big industry. Operating in close contact with craftsmen is one way of discovering qualities that may help to inspire tomorrow's industry whilst also boosting the dignity and prestige of skilled craftsmanship.

The "Laboratori": The activities of Produzione Privata are divided into workshops ("Laboratori"). Each of these is devoted to the processing of a given type of material or to a specific design concept: Murano Blown Glass, Ceramics, Metal, Wood, Minimal Machines, Ready-made, Pyrex, Bent Glass.

Special Editions: Not periodically but continuously Produzione Privata presents very limited editions of objects designed for special topics and dedicated particularly to collectors. This year Michele De Lucchi has collaborated with the wood artist Ernst Gamperl to create a small collection of wooden objects.
